UNLV NAMES CAITLIN ALLEN AS WOMEN’S SOCCER ASSISTANT COACH

Caitlin Allen, a standout defender at UNLV for the past four seasons, will remain a Rebel as she joins the women’s soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach, UNLV Head Coach Michael Coll announced on Thursday.

Allen was a four-year starter on the backline for the Rebels, appearing in a total of 74 games with 69 starts. She played for a defense that allowed just 19 total goals in her senior season, the fourth-lowest mark in UNLV history. A two-time All-Mountain West honoree, including first-team honors in 2012, Allen also earned NSCAA All-Pacific Region second team honors as a senior. She finished her career with nine points off four goals and an assist, which included a career-high two goals scored her senior campaign. Allen excelled in the classroom as well, earning three CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in her career.

This past May she received her bachelor’s degree from UNLV in environmental studies with a minor in solar and renewable energy. A San Diego native, she has spent part of the summer with the Seattle Reign FC in the new National Women’s Soccer League.

“We’re delighted that Caitlin has decided to continue her Rebel career as a member of the coaching staff,” said Coll. “She was a leader on the field, in the classroom and in the community throughout her years at UNLV. Her experiences will be valuable to the team as we aim to challenge for the Mountain West championship”.
