Danzig

Glenn Danzig a name that permeates, infects, and ultimately makes strong, the very soul of hard rock. Considered to be the artist who has “launched a thousand bands,” Danzig, through the legendary punk charge of his pre-Danzig outfits Misfits and Samhain, has formed the backbone of today’s mosh movement. He has been referred to as a man who has launched a thousand bands.  Dive into the deep waves of the Danzig catalogue, and you’ve got an artist who has created high-tension hybrids that are still being pondered and quietly adopted throughout today’s metal community. In a career that has spanned across 5 decades, Danzig has mastered a meld of punk, doom, gothic new wave and an intense California twist on black Satanic metal, culminating in a display of shockingly dark hard rock that sends chills the likes of which today’s Norwegian church-burners could never know.

2013 will mark several Danzig achievements- it marks the 25th anniversary of “Danzig,” the seminal album that contained the hits “Mother,” “Twist of Cain,” “Am I Demon,” and “She Rides” Upon it’s release, MTV immediately banned the “Mother” video for its controversial imagery. This summer, “Danzig” will be reissued with various never-before-released bonus materials in several new packages.

Also 2013 will see the release of “Skeletons,” Glenn Danzig’s first ever collection of cover songs. “Skeletons” includes covers of songs by such artists as The Troggs, The Rascals, Elvis Presley, Black Sabbath, The Everly Brothers, Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood along with the biker theme “Devil’s Angels” and the theme from “Satan’s Sadists.”

Over the years, Danzig’s music has been covered by a very diverse collection of artists that includes Roy Orbison, Metallica and Johnny Cash.  Through “Skeletons,” Danzig will give a rare look into songs and artists that have influenced or made their mark on Glenn throughout his career… all done in that unique Danzig style.

Perhaps most poignant in 2013 will be the addition of Doyle Von Frankenstein to all Danzig dates in the US, UK and Europe.  This will mark the first and perhaps only time that UK and European audiences will see Danzig and Doyle perform a Misfits set together in addition to the full Danzig set.   Throughout 2013, once again we will see the disciples studying the master.
