MUSIC LEGENDS THE WHO AND BREAKOUT BAND IMAGINE DRAGONS ROCKED THE JOINT, FEB. 8 – 10

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino embraces its rock ‘n’ roll roots with three nights of sold out shows

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas’ off-strip playground, welcomed British rock legends The Who and Las Vegas-based rockers Imagine Dragons for three consecutive nights of sold out shows. The three sold out shows were produced by AEG Live.

The Who, one of rock’s defining bands, performed its iconic 1973 double album Quadrophenia in full along with a selection of their classics inside The Joint on Friday, Feb. 8 and Sunday, Feb. 10. Founding members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshed were joined by Pino Palladino (bass), Simon Townshend (guitar/backing vocals), Chris Stainton (keyboards), Scott Deavours  (drums), Loren Gold (keyboards/backing vocals) and Frank Simes (musical director/ keyboards/backing vocals). The shows lasted more than two hours and included hits “The Real Me,” “5:15,” “Love Reign o’er Me,” and more. Soul band Vintage Trouble opened both nights.

Breakout rockers Imagine Dragons returned to their hometown of Las Vegas and took over the stage at The Joint, following openers Nico Vega and Atlas Genius, with an unforgettable performance on Saturday, Feb. 9. Comprised of Dan Reynolds (lead singer/drums), Ben McKee (bass/backing vocals), Wayne Sermon (guitar/backing vocals) and Dan Platzman (drums/viola/backing vocals), Imagine Dragons kept fans on their feet playing hit singles “It’s Time,” “Radioactive” and more. The band is currently touring in support of its full-length debut album Night Visions.

“It feels so good to be home,” proclaimed Reynolds. “I wish that I could live here today. We live on the road but this is still our home, a lovely home it is. We love Las Vegas!”

The band announced they were working on a music video for “Demons” and would film a portion during the concert. “We’re about to film our newest music video so you guys will be a part of it. We felt it was appropriate to film our next music video in our hometown,” said an extremely excited Reynolds.

The big surprise of the night came during their song “On Top of the World” when the lead singer was harnessed to a long rope and swung out above the crowd causing their fans to go crazy. After which he yelled, “Only in Vegas!”

Imagine Dragons ended with their first single “It’s Time” followed by an encore of “Nothing Left to Say.” Before exiting the stage, Reynolds addressed the crowd in a very heartfelt moment, “We will remember this show forever. It’s true, we will.” He then blew a kiss to the audience and bowed.
