Smash Magazine presents Roots Reggae Uprising featuring Tribal Seeds, along with special guests Fortunate Youth, ForTwentyDaze, HaleAmanO, One Pin Short and more on Saturday, October 20 at Henderson Events Plaza (200 S. Water Street). Gates open at 4 p.m. Tickets are $17 in advance, $21 day of show, plus any service charges and are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased online at www.ticketfly.com. This is an all age show. 21+ will have bar access with valid ID.
From San Diego, California, award-winning reggae group Tribal Seeds have become known for their spiritually driven, refreshing rock vibe they have infused with the roots style of reggae music. They have received critical praise and awards for their music. The EP Soundwaves peaked at #2 on the Billboard Reggae chart.
Fortunate Youth is a collaboration of South Bay reggae musicians. The group’s 2011 album Irie State of Mind climbed to #2 on the iTunes Reggae Charts and peaked at #13 on the Billboard Reggae chart. The band is in the process of writing and recording a new album with hopes of a fall release.
ForTwentyDaze formed in 2004 while students at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. A reggae group that will make you dance and vibe all night long with their greatly influenced Island Culture, the band fills their music with sweet harmonies and smooth melodies. The band’s EP That Day is available on iTunes.
HaleAmanO is a Las Vegas based reggae band. They have played for three years together at many events and venues around the Las Vegas area. Their musical influences include Bob Marley, Steel Pulse and New Generation of Island Reggae.
Firmly planted in the West Coast via the Old School, One Pin Short are the faces of New America. They are a band made up of kids whose parents are Mexican, Hawaiian, Filipino, and Jordanian and whose musical influences are just as multi-cultural. Drawing on the traditions of reggae, punk, ska, jazz, blues and rock, they create a sound that mixes an island vibe with an underground attitude.
