The Beverly Theater Celebrates Grand Opening with Premiere Week March 3-7

Independent film house, storytelling arena, and live music venue debuts with a flex of its programming pillars of Film, Live, Lit in a combination of invitational and community events

In Las Vegas, where bigger is better, flash is flashier and music is produced as spectacle, a new locally forward entertainment venue has its sights set on shining a bright spotlight on imaginative indie films, intimate musical performances, and thought-provoking literary moments.  As Las Vegas’ only indie film house, storytelling headquarters, and intentional live music venue, The Beverly Theater, is set to debut with a week of events showcasing its programming pillars of Film, Lit, and Live beginning March 3, 2023.

Lights, Camera, Action – Friday, March 3

The celebration begins on Friday, March 3 with the VIP red-carpet special presentation of Sundance-screened Past Lives, a Korean romance film wherein Nora and Hae Sung, two deeply connected childhood friends, are wrest apart after Nora’s family emigrate from South Korea. Two decades later, they are reunited in New York for one fateful week as they confront notions of destiny, love, and the choices that make a life. Created by writer-director Celine Song, starring Greta Lee and Teo Yoo, and produced by Killer Films.

Highlighting the theater’s flexible design and unmatched audio-visual capabilities, the independent movie premiere will immediately be followed by a public Q&A with Oscar-winning producers Pamela Koffler and Christine Vachon (Killer Films) moderated by Amanda Fortini as well as an Open House celebration so all can discover the locally-forward cultural hub and technologically advanced venue.

A Flick and it’s Lit – Saturday, March 4 – Sunday, March 5

The Beverly Theater Premiere Week continues with a public movie viewing on Saturday, March 4, and a robust schedule of LIT events on March 4-5 presented in tandem with the independent bookstore and neighbor The Writer’s Block and Black Mountain Institute (BMI). Free and open to the public, LIT events will take place in the theater, courtyard, and at Segue, the modish overlook, and jazz terrace on 6th complete with a beer and wine bar.

Premiere Week LIT events will feature a variety of readings, author Q&A’s, and discussions including novelist Walter Kirn in conversation with Native American fiction writer Sterling HolyWhiteMountain, BMI presentation of award-winning writer Percival Everett, BMI Fellows reading, a screening of dramatic movie First Reformed and a discussion with the film’s writer and director Paul Schrader, Killer Films and others involved with the compelling film.

The Beverly Theater Goes Live with EKOH – Tuesday, March 7

Closing out the celebratory Premiere Week will be a live music performance by Las Vegas’ own Ekoh on Tuesday, March 7. With his true emotional lyrics along with hard-hitting delivery, intricate production, and a high-energy live show, Ekoh is the definition of independent music success.

While community events are free and open to the public, space is limited and will require an RSVP. With more details coming soon, keep an eye on @beverlytheater and sign up at  www.TheBeverlyTheater.com.

“Our city has never had a true art house and my hope is that The Beverly Theater provides an opportunity for people to see and experience things they haven’t yet been able to see in Las Vegas,” said Beverly Rogers, Chairman of the Board, The Rogers Foundation. “As a faithful supporter of the arts, it’s important to me to make sure the community has access to a permanent home for independent film and artistic expression.”

“We are proud to have built a first-of-its-kind film house and performance theater for the people who live in Las Vegas,” said Founding Creative Director and Chief Experience Officer Kip Kelly. “The flexibility and capabilities of this venue are unmatched. We promised to bring uncommon content and programming to the city, and we intend on delivering.”

The Beverly Theater is All That

The two-story, 14,306 square-foot film house and performance theater features three distinct areas: the main theater, Segue terrace, and courtyard, each designed with purpose and intention, and dialed in to allow for one-of-a-kind content offerings and programming that does not exist anywhere else in Las Vegas. Additionally, The Beverly Theater has an on-site box office, retail/concession space, and a fully loaded green room (affectionately named The Teddy).

The main theater features raked seating of nearly 150 seats resting on a retractable platform that can allow for expanded standing room capacity and convert the venue into a multi-purpose black box theater with the push of a button. Multiple lighting plots allow the theater to be used in a variety of different ways and can be staged in multiple directions. With an extraordinary emphasis on the film-watching experience, the 360-square-foot screen is coupled with a motorized cinema masking system and has been designed to maximize viewing angles from every seat in the house.

Powered by Meyer Sound, Cirque theater’s sound system of choice, The Beverly Theater features a custom audio experience with Constellation, a platform that integrates high-quality loudspeakers, microphones, digital processing, patented algorithms, and proprietary certification techniques in a flexible package.  This enables The Beverly Theater to transform its architectural acoustics with a finger tap, affording incomparable sonic flexibility. The Constellation system provides audiences with a robust surround cinema package, gives performers a microphone-free experience, and provides maximum flexibility for music performances, allowing multiple musical genres to enjoy the perfect acoustics for their performance.

The brainchild of namesake philanthropist Beverly Rogers, The Beverly Theater further underscores The Rogers Foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting the arts.
