REBELS TO COMPETE IN MULTIPLE MEETS IN TEXAS THIS WEEKEND

 The UNLV track & field team continues the outdoor season this weekend in multiple meets in Texas, competing in the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invite & Multis.

The two meets will run through similar timelines, the Rebels competing from Thursday, March 27 through Saturday, March 29 at both locations. The Clyde Littlefield Relays will take place in Austin, Texas on the University of Texas’ campus, the Bobcats Invite & Multis being hosted at Texas State.

UNLV will travel 11 student-athletes to the Clyde Littlefield meet, Kennedi Porter being the standalone Rebel to compete in multiple individual events across the weekend (100m, 200m). Porter and her Rebel teammates will take part in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays, the other athletes listed on the official Performance List being Jayda Bushay, AnnaKayMaitland, Jaydea Carter, Sadia Green, Lacarthea Cooper and Kaelin Gowdy.

The Rebels have a handful of other track competitors individually, Natalia Ruiz competing in the women’s 5000m and Carter taking part in the women’s 100m hurdles. Maitland and Bushay will join Porter in the 100m dash as well to round out the track competitors.

UNLV will host three student-athletes in the field events, Grace Cunningham representing the jumpers in the women’s high jump. Krishna Jayasankar and Roxene Simpson will compete in separate events for the throws team, Jayasankar in the shot put as Simpson takes part in the discus.

The Bobcat Invite will set for a large number of events on Thursday, day one holding the discus, pole vault, long jump, javelin, 100m hurdles, 100m, 400m, heptathlon, 200m, 800m, 3000m steeplechase, 5000m and 10000m. Friday is set to be the short day with the hammer throw, long jump, pole vault, shot put, 400m hurdles, 200m and 1500m. Saturday’s events will close out the meet, hosting the hammer throw, high jump, triple jump, shot put, 4x100m relay, 100m hurdles, 400m, 100m and 4x400m relay.
