Legendary “Voice of the Rebels” Dick Calvert will be honored at the UNLV men’s basketball game on Saturday, Jan. 14 vs. Colorado State, the athletics department announced Friday.

Calvert will be recognized at halftime in a ceremony that will include the revealing of a banner hanging in his honor in the rafters of the famed Thomas & Mack Center.

Calvert served as the public address announcer for UNLV Athletics events for 52 years before stepping away prior to this season. He was inducted into the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017 and Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame in 2010, and served in a variety of roles at UNLV spanning six decades. However, he is most well known for his work calling men’s basketball and football games for the Rebels.

Calvert has remained a part of the athletics department, continuing to lend his unmistakable voice to radio ads and other special projects. He is the longest-tenured employee in UNLV Athletics history.

The game vs. the Rams is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at UNLVtickets.com.
