Lady Rebels Play Boise State Wednesday

LADY REBELS PLAY BOISE STATE WEDNESDAY 

 

UNLV and Boise State will tip-off on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m. PT at ExtraMile Arena

The UNLV women’s basketball team will travel to Idaho in order to visit Boise State on Wednesday, Jan. 24. The Lady Rebels are looking to bounce back into the win column after a tough loss to New Mexico.

 

ABOUT THE OPPONENT: UNLV is 15-12 all-time versus Boise State and have won the last five meetings against the Broncos. Boise State heads into Wednesday with a 13-6 overall record and 4-2 in Mountain West play. The Broncos are currently on a four-game winning streak. Boise State is coming off a 76-41 win over Utah State on Saturday in Boise. The Broncos are led by Natalie Pasco who is averaging 13.5 points per game. Abby Muse is the leading rebounder for Boise State averaging 9.4 per game.

SQUAD LEADERS: Desi-Rae Young leads the Lady Rebels in scoring, averaging 19.6 points per game and is the leading rebounder (9.4 rebounds per game). Kiara Jackson leads UNLV in assists per game (5.1) and is the second-leading scorer averaging 12.2 points per game. Alyssa Durazo-Frescas is the third leading scorer on the squad, averaging 9.1 points and Alyssa Brown is the second leading rebounder, bringing down 8.1 boards per game, respectively.

 

LAST TIME ON THE COURT: The No. 25/23 UNLV women’s basketball team suffered its first Mountain West conference game loss in two seasons, 69-66 to New Mexico on Saturday afternoon at Cox Pavilion. Desi-Rae Young led the Lady Rebels with her 42nd career double-double (seventh of the season) of 24 points and a season-high 17 rebounds (four offensive, 13 defensive), which is one shy of her career-high. Young shot 10-for-18 from the field, 2-for-4 from the three-point line, and dished a team-high four assists. Alyssa Brown added 10 points and brought down seven rebounds, while Kiara Jackson scored nine points and had five rebounds.

 

SQUAD UP: UNLV returns nine of the 12 players from its 2023 championship squad including three starters and Mountain West Sixth Player of the Year, Kiara Jackson and MVP of the Mountain West Championship, Desi-Rae Young. New to the squad this season are four freshmen, forward McKinna Brackens, point guard Amarachi Kimpson, guard Macy Spencer and forward Meadow Roland, and junior transfer Macie James, a forward from Oklahoma State.
