Las Vegas resident, Dave Durbin, age 53, received Super Bowl tickets on Tuesday evening during a surprise presentation by the NFL at Crucial Catch Live, a panel discussion featuring NFL players and legends talking about prostate cancer screening and education.  Dave, a former concrete foreman at Allegiant Stadium, was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer earlier this year. On Sunday, Dave, alongside his 18-year-old son, Jacob, will live out his lifelong dream, to watch a Super Bowl in the stadium he helped build.

The American Cancer Society and National Football League have teamed up to host “Crucial Catch LIVE Presented by Sleep Number,” a panel-style conversation Tuesday, February 6 in Las Vegas ahead of Super Bowl LVIII. “Crucial Catch LIVE” will bring current and former NFL players, medical experts and sports personalities got together for an open conversation about prostate cancer.

After decades of declining prostate cancer rates, diagnoses have begun to rise again in recent years. The disease disproportionately impacts Black men, who have a higher likelihood of being diagnosed with late-stage prostate cancer than other men, and therefore have higher mortality rates. The panelists, along with moderator 2x Emmy Award-winning sportscaster and prostate cancer survivor Brian Custer, are uniquely positioned to discuss the impact of prostate cancer, raise awareness for early detection resources and help to reverse the trends.

The panel included American Cancer Society board member Dr. Robert Winn, MD, Pro Football Hall of Famer and prostate cancer survivor Mike Haynes, former New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Will Gholston, and Las Vegas Raiders running back Brandon Bolden. Gholston and Bolden each served as American Cancer Society Crucial Catch ambassadors during the 2023/24 season.

To further help football fans access essential cancer resources, official Crucial Catch partner Sleep Number has teamed up with the NFL to present The Defender Presented by Sleep Number, an online tool that allows NFL fans to quickly access cancer resources that are available to fans on-site.
