WHAT: The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation invites the public to attend the 32nd Annual LVMPD K-9 Trials on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at South Point Arena, 9777 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Doors open at 8:00 am with the opening ceremony at 9:00 am.
Fifty K-9 teams from 27 law enforcement, hotel and casino properties, and military will compete in a variety of events including Agility and Handler Protection. Teams are judged on their performance, including handler tactics with the top three finishers receiving Tough Dog, Top Dog, and Top Agency awards.
LVMPD SWAT will kick it up with a dramatic opening ceremony demonstration. Emcees for the show are LVMPD Southeast Area Command Captain Jeff Clark and Beth Fisher, LVMPD Community Relations.
This family-friendly competition is FREE and open to the public of all ages. Activities include K-9 Photo Op, $5 per photo; People’s Choice Award for Favorite K-9, $1 per vote; raffle ticket prizes, $1 and $5 tickets depending on item; vendor booths; and new LVMPD K-9 branded merchandise available for purchase.

The LVMPD K-9 Section is one of the oldest, continuously operating K-9 units in the United States, comprised of 16 officers, three sergeants, one lieutenant, 18 patrol dogs, five narcotic detector dogs, and five explosive detector dogs. Three patrol dogs are certified as human remains detectors.
The LVMPD Foundation supports and supplements Metro area commands, special units like the K-9 Section, equipment & technology, crime prevention events, and hundreds of positive community-police engagement activities, programs, and initiatives that help make Las Vegas safer.
