2nd Annual “Kidnapped for a Cause”
to support Southern Nevada Children First
October 5, 2012

On Friday October 5, 2012 starting at 3pm, Southern Nevada Children First (SNCF) will be organizing their 2nd annual “Kidnapped for a Cause” event in Las Vegas. Local business and community leaders will volunteer to be “kidnapped for a cause” and taken to an undisclosed location (shhh it’s Hennessey’s Tavern lounge on Fremont Street). These participants will have to call family, friends and coworkers to try and raise their “ransom money”. “Ransom money” is set at $1500 per participant. This amount sponsors a young mother who is ready to move into her own apartment with her baby after successfully graduating from SNCF’s Life skills and Transitional Housing program. From 5-7pm please come celebrate the release of our victims during an open bar at the Hennessey’s Tavern lounge on Fremont Street, individual donations in cash, check or credit card will be accepted.

SNCF is a local 501©3 non-profit organization, that provides long- term transitional living and life skills training to homeless pregnant and parenting teens and young adults, ages 16-22. The mission of SNCF is to “strengthen the lives of children and families by providing pregnant and parenting homeless youth with safe, structured and positive living environments that encourage the development of the skills necessary to successfully transition to self-sufficiency. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to fund SNCF’s work.

In 2011 over 270 mothers and children have been assisted, of which 11 young ladies have transitioned to independent housing, 65 girls have successfully reconnected to education, 86  have received quality work experience and 17 young women have been reconnected to their friends or families.
