UNLV Athletics announced the non-conference portion of its 2024-25 men’s basketball schedule Monday.

The slate spans Nov. 4 through Dec. 21 and features 11 contests, including six at the Thomas & Mack Center, one in nearby Henderson, two in Arizona as well as two true road games.

UNLV will face four teams that appeared in the postseason last year before Mountain West play begins, including three straight in a 10-day span.

“We have put together an extremely challenging non-conference schedule that we believe will match the competitiveness of this year’s team,” head coach Kevin Kruger said. “It will give us the opportunity for some big wins and prepare us extremely well for an always-tough Mountain West season.”

The 2024-25 Runnin’ Rebel campaign will begin with five straight home games at the Thomas & Mack Center, beginning with the season opener on Monday, Nov. 4 against Alabama State. Memphis is up next with a visit on Saturday, Nov. 9. The Tigers, who will play at UNLV for the first time since 1997, are coming off a 22-10 season.

The Runnin’ Rebels will continue their season-opening homestand with Omaha on Thursday, Nov. 14; Pepperdine on Wednesday, Nov. 20; and New Mexico State on Saturday, Nov. 23.

UNLV will head out of town for the first time in late November, playing in the second annual Arizona Tip-Off, scheduled for Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28) and Friday, Nov 29. UNLV will open the event, which will be played at Mullett Arena in Tempe, against Mississippi State and then face Butler or Northwestern. Mississippi State, from the SEC, finished 21-14 last year, ending its season in the NCAA Tournament as a No. 9 seed. Butler, out of the Big East, played in the NIT, while Northwestern, which tied for third in the Big 10 and had an overall record of 22-12, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament as a No. 9 seed where it lost to eventual national champion UConn.

The Runnin’ Rebels will play their first true road game of the season at Creighton on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska. UNLV defeated then-No. 8 Creighton last season at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson in what became its first win over a top-10 team in non-conference play in nine years. The Bluejays tied for second in the Big East last year and made their second straight NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearance in what was a fourth consecutive showing in the Big Dance. They finished the season with a 25-10 overall record, ranking No. 13/10 in the polls.

UNLV will return home to Las Vegas but play at Henderson’s Lee’s Family Forum, hosting Pacific on Saturday, Dec 14, then travel back across the country for another trip to Dayton, facing the Flyers on Tuesday, Dec. 17. That game is rescheduled from last year’s cancellation because of the tragedy on UNLV’s campus earlier that day.

The Runnin’ Rebels will close out their non-conference schedule on Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Thomas & Mack Center against UC Riverside.

UNLV’s Mountain West schedule has not been announced yet. Game times and television appearances will also be announced at a later date.
