2012 NBA SUMMER LEAGUE SET TO TIP OFF
Sixty Games in 10 Days Featuring Teams with 13 of the Top 14 Draft Picks The 2012 NBA Summer League is set to tip off this Friday, July 13 at the Thomas & Mack Center and the COX Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
The 2012 competition will mark the eighth summer that the league has been held in Las Vegas since its inception in 2004, and will feature 23 NBA teams and a squad of NBA Development League standouts. Each of the participating teams will play five games each for a total of 60 contests over the course of the event’s 10 days. adidas, Gatorade, Las Vegas Events, and Sprite will support NBA Summer League as Associate Partners.
The 2012 NBA Summer League will showcase 13 of the top 14 picks in this year’s NBA Draft. The action tips off July 13 at 1 p.m. PT with the Atlanta Hawks playing the Washington Wizards in the first of four scheduled games that day at COX Pavilion. Other teams participating in opening day action include the Charlotte Bobcats, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors.
NBA TV will televise 57 games, including 38 live from both the Thomas & Mack Center and COX Pavilion. NBA Summer League games will also be available live on NBA.com and NBA Mobile through NBA SUMMER LEAGUE BROADBAND. The subscription service will offer fans a full slate of live and archived Summer League games via NBA.com and iTunes. On mobile, fans can download NBA Summer League, a new free app featuring live scores, video highlights, recaps and game alerts. The NBA Summer League app will include the opportunity to upgrade to a premium version with access to all live games on NBA SUMMER LEAGUE BROADBAND. NBA Game Time, the league’s signature mobile app, will also offer live scores, video highlights, player profiles and game alerts.
