Top hip hop, R&B, pop and soul artists of the ‘80s and ‘90s will bring their greatest hits to 105.7’s Old School Party Jam at the Orleans Arena on Saturday, Oct. 21. Featured artists include Morris Day and The Time, Club Nouveau, Money B and Young Hump of Digital Underground, Midnight Star, Jalil & Exstasy of Whodini, Sugar Hill Gang, Dazz Band and JJ Fad.

Formed in 1981 in Minneapolis, Morris Day and The Time helped create the Minneapolis sound, mixing soul, dance, funk and rock ‘n’ roll in their music. The band rose to fame through their work with the late pop legend Prince, as well as with their tops hits “Jerk Out,” “Jungle Love,” “The Bird,” “777-9311” and “Cool (Part One).” In 1990, the group released their album “Pandemonium,” which hit the Top 20 in the United States. Morris Day and The Time’s most recent album “Condensate,” was released in 2011. The group’s current lineup includes Morris Day, Jellybean Johnson, Monte Moir, Torrell “Tori” Ruffin, Christian Crooks and Ricky “Freeze” Smith.

Club Nouveau burst into the R&B and pop music scenes in 1986, releasing their debut album “Lie, Love and Pain.” The album scored four consecutive hits, including “Jealousy,” “Situation #9,” “Why You Treat Me So Bad” and a cover to Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me” that hit No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart and won the group a Grammy award. In 1988, Club Nouveau began releasing albums raising awareness of social issues, including the dancehall-influenced version of “Oh Happy Day.” The group went on the release several notable hits, including “Let It Go,” “You Ain’t No Friend of Mine,” and “What Kind of Love.” The group’s lineup includes original members Valerie Watson English and Samuelle Prater, as well as Jay King.

Best known for their top hits “The Humpty Dance” and “Kiss You Back,” Digital Underground has performed their signature funky hip-hop sound since 1987. Founded by Shock-G, who is also known as his alter-ego Humpty Hump, the group released its first album, which went Platinum in 1990. Throughout their career, the group released six albums and two EPs, which included the hits “Doowutchyalike,” “Same Song,” “No Nose Job” and “The Return of the Crazy One.” Digital Underground is also known for helping launch the career of Tupac Shakur.

Rounding out the show’s lineup are Midnight Star, Jalil & Exstasy of Whodini, Sugar Hill Gang, Dazz Band and JJ Fad.
